# Existing Home Sales: release dates, results and history

Existing Home Sales last printed 3.98M on Thu, Sep 10, 2026 against a 3.98M consensus forecast and a 4.06M prior, exactly on consensus. The next release is Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM ET. Captured live by Helious the moment it printed.

Existing sales are about 90% of the housing market, so this is the cleanest read you get on what mortgage rates have done to buyers. The awkward part is the timing. A sale is counted at closing, one to two months after the contract was signed, so every print describes a rate environment that has already moved on. Inventory, measured as months of supply, and the median price come out in the same release, and those two are where you read affordability.

The official published series at its current vintage, revisions included, so the newest point can differ from the number as first printed. The release-by-release history, with the consensus forecast and standard-deviation surprise on every row, comes through the [Helious API](https://helious.io/developers/).

## How it moves Treasuries

On its own this rarely moves Treasuries, and a sales beat only leans mildly bearish. You read it for confirmation. It tells you whether cheaper or more expensive mortgages have reached the real economy yet. See it scored live on the [Helious desk](https://helious.io/),
