Chicago PMI: Release Dates, Results & History
Chicago PMI last printed 47.1 on Fri, Aug 28, 2026 against a 57.9 consensus forecast and a 57.6 prior, a -2.7 standard-deviation surprise. The next release is Monday, August 31, 2026 at 9:45 AM ET. Captured live by Helious the moment it printed.
Chicago is the oldest of the purchasing manager surveys and historically the best single-region ISM manufacturing predictor, with a panel skewed toward large national firms. It prints on the last business day for the month just ending, one to two sessions ahead of ISM, so a big surprise resets ISM whispers on the spot. Subscribers see it three minutes early, which is why the tape sometimes moves before the public stamp.
The trend, at a glance
How it moves Treasuries
A Chicago beat is modestly bearish Treasuries and drags ISM expectations with it. Moves that start at 9:42 are this release leaking through early access, not noise. See it scored live on the Helious desk, or read how the standard-deviation surprise is computed.
